    Hi all,

We recently shot our first independent film and approx. half of it was shot at 24p with the other half at 25p. Why? Because half of the movie takes place in front of a computer and TV monitor and the only way to dial both of them in completely was to switch the camera over to 25. It worked perfectly and the footage is gorgeous.

However, Final Cut Pro is showing 59.94 as the frame rate for the 25p stuff. I see the normal 23.98 for the 24p material. Do I need to capture a different way for FCP to see the frames in the 25p material correctly? I’m planning to use the “Conform 25 to 24” tool in FCP 5 to conform all the material to 24, but first I need FCP to see the 25p stuff correctly.

    Thanks!

remember that the flagged frames will always convert to 23.98 (24p) when using the Frame Rate Converter’s (either software or hardware) it is a function of how it works — it always converts the flagged frames for a 23.98 timeline.

so in reality the work is done for you ( but 2 % slower than you recorded it.

Thanks Gary! I’m such a bonehead, totally forgot about the Frame Rate Converter being needed for things other than the standard 24fps. I got spoiled by FCP automatically pulling the 24p out of the DVCPro HD tapes.

Good to see you over here!
