FInal Cut pro – AVCD 50 FPS Conform to PRO RES 25FPS ??
Hello.
Editing some wedding footage.
Was shot on canon DSLR’s at 1080P 25fps. Have conformed all to ProRes 10 bit. All this is good. But.
A family member, shot some really good close ups on his Panasonic. Recorded at 50FPS 720P. AVCD is the native coded.
I am trying to ‘log and transfer’ in Final Cut Studio 2.0
I cant seem to get it to conform the 50fps to 25fps for slow mo. Footage i particular want is the slow mo of the rings going on, flowers falling at the end of the ceremony. But its only worthwile if i can get it to 25fps.
I have managed to use the HDV – PRO RES capture settings but am having trouble finding how to conform it to 25 fps.
Any help you could offer is much appreciated.

Conform will give you slowmotion footage.
Do you want that?
If not just create 50fps prores and just drag it in the 25 timeline. You will loose half of the frames. -
Yeah i am After Slow motion footage.
Any Ideas?
Would love to be able to do it in ‘Log And Transfer’ and not have to try and figure it out in Compressor. My experience is that when Final cut uses the log and transfer, its easir to match the grades in color as opposed to when Compressor does it.

You bring in the footage in LOG AND TRANSFER…as 50fps. Tutorial HERE: Tapeless Workflow for FCP 7 Tutorial
