Final Cut Pro -AV Files
Hey,
I am currently working on putting all my footage into one project and have captured it all in FCP 5. The problem I am encountering right now is that I had trouble moving this raw footage onto my external HD (an error occured everytime I moved a big file of Raw footage). So I figured that I could perhaps open it in FCP and then render it as a quicktime file on the HD. I did that and it was created without a problem, but now when i make a new project and try to import it, it says “File Error: 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown” and will not import the file that it just rendered as a quicktime video. Now the other thing I noticed was when I rendered this quicktime video out, there were all these AV files created below the original. What are AV files and is there a better way that I could get this footage onto my hard drive and work around the error I get every time I try to copy it over? Thanks for your time!

Reformat the external drive and make sure it is Mac Formatted

I have never reformatted my external drive…How would I go about doing this? Sorry if this is a really novice sounding question, thanks!

Disk Utility in Utilities folder
It will erase data on drive
