What kind of file is that? Codec? Container? Is it a fcp sequence or self-contained file?

Hi.
The file is a sequence in FCP. I’m trying to make it to a self-contained movie.
When I set the preferences it automatically sets it to DV_NTSC.

Does you sequence contain footage of varying resolutions and frame-rates? Is your captured footage dv? What particular effects and filters did you apply? Can you tell from export progress what part of your sequence went awry. Did you try partial export in order to localize the problem spot?

There’s not a lot of video footage in the sequence. I’m working on an animation that was created in DAZ studio. Those clips are rendered to a .mov file and then brought into FCP.

However, I am using various photos, which have different sizes and resolutions. I’m applying a cartoon filter to most of the photos.

Is your captured footage dv? I have some captured footage that was shot on mini-DV.

What particular effects and filters did you apply? Mostly the cartoon filter but I also use a zoom filter, ripple dissolve, cross-fade.

Can you tell from export progress what part of your sequence went awry. I think it’s the first half of the film. It seems to quit when it gets to about 30%.

Did you try partial export in order to localize the problem spot? I’ve tried doing the first half and then the second half. Both seem to take a really long time. If I try to force a quit, it tells me FCP is not responding.

I bet the problem somewhere among your stills. If you have pretty large stills they may cause the trouble. Try to steer clear of any bmps, gifs and heavily compressed jpgs. Instead use tiffs or pngs with video compatible resolution of 72 Do you work in Dv NTSC sequence? I am afraid you’d have to find exact trouble maker on your timeline and deal with it.

Probably there is an element in your sequence that aborts the rendering.
The only way to discover the offending media is to render your time-line by batches.
Select a portion of your sequence and “Alt-R” to make sure you render everything in the selection.
When FC crash again you found the clip that is bothering.

Thanks. Would it have anything to do with files that have gone offline? I have one file for sure that was deleted. It keeps showing up in the list of files that have gone offline. I don’t know how to get it off the list. It’s not showing up in my browser.

Is the offline file on your timeline? That sounds like a likely culprit. If a file is deleted, it goes offline. Then you delete it from both timeline and browser, save and quit, it won’t show the “reconnect media” dialog upon opening the FCP project. The offline file is there somewhere.

OK. I found all the files in the timeline and the browser that should have been deleted. Now it’s telling me that there are 307 render files that are offline. I’m sure that’s because I deleted a back-up copy that was on the internal hard drive. How do I get rid of that?
