I am planning on editing an HD project. The lab wants to give me downconverted 29.97 fps DVCam tapes of selects with an .ale file…

They sent me a sample .ale file to import. I tried to read it into FCP and it wouldnt allow me to import. Is there some program that I need to run it through to make it readable to FCP? I’m surprised FCP cant do the industry standard files (.ale and .flx)… Or… maybe its me. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks!

Cinema Tools 3 will do this for you. You just need to import the .ale file as a ‘Telecine Log’. This will set up a database of the footage for you.

Even simpler, download sebsky tools. It has a little tool called ale2fcp and also fcp2ale.

It just saves your ale as a fcp batch file you import into a bin.

Actually they want you to drink some Ale before you send the stuff over. To relax you.
