  • Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 Makes New File Names when Batch Capturing

I am using Final Cut 6.0.6

I log my tape with clips names that look like “5001.01_Jon” after I batch capture I get file names that look like “5001-01.”

Why is Final Cut creating new file names instead of using the clip names I made? Can anyone help?

I know I can change the file names afterwards but there are many people logging and loading on this project as well as a lot of copying of media that needs to happen. I’m worried about media going offline.

It might be that you are using a full stop in the name. Full stops in a file name usually mean after the stop is the file extension information which should only be three characters long, hence the truncation.

Although Mac OS can handle some illegal characters that won’t work in Windows, it is always a good idea to avoid .#/ characters

Thanks, I’ll try and see if removing the “.” solves this problem!
