Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 cannot see or load P2footage in log&capture
Hi Folks. Can someone help me. I have a mac book pro 2.4ghz 4gb ram running fcp 6.0.4. I had to shoot a panasonic 200 camera and use P2 cards. I downloaded to an external hard drive and tried to load the footage onto my final cut pro. I copied the contents & lastclip.txt to individual folders on the ext hd. When I go to capture transfer and try to load the card it doesn’t show the clips. I tried it on my friends newer mac book pro and it loaded fine. He is using fcp7 but I did a test on my mac book pro and it loaded on my computer before the shoot but it won’t now. Please help! Thanks.

Do you have FX Factory installed? 1.0 and 2.0 causes issues where FCP won’t see P2 cards. Update to 2.0.2, or remove it (if it is a demo, or you don’t want to update), and try again.

There is also a version of REDCODE that cause this, sorry I don’t have the version handy, but removing it and restarted solved this issue for my a while back.

Thanks but now I’m really messed up. I did have FX Factory 1st version so I tried to upgrade but I had Tiger and the upgrade only works with Leopard. I never upgraded to Leopard on my mac book pro because I believe if Tiger is not broken why upgrade. O.k., so now I upgraded to Leopard 10.5 which I had the disc when I bought my Mac Book Pro. I tried to open FCP 6 and it crashed. Now I’m trying to fix Leopard so I can open FCP but not sure what to do. I’m doing the os updates starting with 10.5 to see if it fixes the problems and hopefully I can open FCP. I hate upgrades! -
Ho boy…you’re kidding me! Man, all you had to do was uninstall the plugin. Now? what a mess.
Updating the OS over your apps isn’t always 100%. Most of the time it isn’t. When upgrading the OS, it is always wise to backup all your data, reformat the hard drive and install the OS and all your apps from scratch. That is the only way to really guarantee that your apps will work.
Now you see what happens when you don’t. If you had just asked the best course of action, we could have avoided all this. Sorry man.
