I recently got a Final Cut Studio 2 package from Ebay with the accompanying discs for Final Cut Pro, Studio Pro, etc. for upgrade. However when I try to install Final Cut Pro v6, it asks for the serial number of Final Cut Pro 6. However once I put that in, it says that’s the upgrade serial number and they want the old serial number. Since I got this Mac, which is a G5, used and the Final Cut Pro 5 software already on it, I don’t have the box that contains the original serial number. I pulled up the system info and put in what I thought was the serial number, but that wasn’t it. Can someone help me? Where can I find the original serial number? Is it installed somewhere ont he computer or do I have to dig somewhere else? ZThanks.

try the splash screen when you select “about final cut pro” when the program is open. I believe the serial # is listed there.

Older versions had the last portion of the serial number missing from the splash screen. You have to contact Apple for installation issues regarding serial numbers.

    All the best,
