I have Final Cut Studio 2 running on a Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon processor.

The requirements on the box of Final Cut Studio 2 say: “Mac computer with 1.25 GHz or faster PowerPC 64, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor.”

The requirements for FCP 7 state “Mac computer with an Intel processor”. FCP 7 clearly states intel processor where FCP 6 is specific about Intel Core Duo or Xeon.

The Macbook Pro comes with a 2.53GHz Intel Core i5 or an optional i7. Would FCP 6.0 software work on this?

When FCS2 came out they hadn’t developed the i5 or i7 chips so they didn’t mention them on the box, but they are intel chips and FCS2 will run on them.

FCS3 has been designed not to run on the older power PC chips.
