    Hi,

I’m editing some fast moving footage on Final Cut Pro 5 but when it moves fast the objects get liney (interlaced). Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

I have tried sequence setting- Field Dominance set to zero
    and
    Video Effects de-interlace

Both these have made it less pronounced, but it is still liney. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Hi Devorah,
Field dominance ZERO, doen’t exist, but sounds great:-)
When there is no field dominance (better to say no fields) we are talking about Progressive.
    In FC shows as NONE.
The de-interlacer filter will work in the footage, but you need to set the sequence as NONE at the same time.
Anyway think that if that looks bad, is an effect of watching interlaced footage in a Progressive monitor (yours Mac monitor).
If you watch that in a normal TV set that should look OK. If you are working with fast movement pictures, think that these will look smoother interlaced than progressive.
    Cheers,
    rafael
