Hey, I just upgraded to OSX Tiger and I dont know if that has to do with it, but since my FCP just cant detect anything thats connected through firewire.

I know its not a hardware issue because my imovie can capture video through it fine and I tried other cameras and wires and nothing changed.

I even completely reinstalled my Final cut pro and it still “cant detect apple firewire 720×480” which completely threw me off.

Why would it still have this problem if I reinstalled it, especially since other programs and devices are working fine through the firewire.?

If you didn’t do a clean wipe and install when you upgraded, I’d recommend that.

Also QT 7 seems to cause havoc with FW devices… read here for the fix: https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852

I am experiencing the same problem with capture:
When log and capture, FCP will not recognize the camcorder and show video.
However, It does let me control the camcorder
    The Same for iMovie.
This problem seems to be solved only by rebooting and pulling out all fw connections. And sometimes that does not work

When it works, it may work for only a one time capture. If I pause or press stop and try to play and capture again, it DOES not recognize the video. Again, the controls in log and capture and iMovie work, but no video.
    I have reinstalled quicktime pro, V. 7.xx, OSX v 10.4.7, iMovie 6.xx, Final Cut pro 4.5.x

I get the thought that there is a glitch in QT or the OS. I have been to many forums and no one really seem to have the REAL answer. But any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks Jerry,

You mean wipe the system hard drive clean?
    then:
    reinstall os
    and everything else:qt, etc?

    thanks again,

    art

btw: your book “…on FCP” rocks.
