  • Final Cut Pro 3 Way Color Corrector Rendering Issue

I’m working with footage shot on a Canon 7d. After Converting the footage to Apple Pro Res 422 I import it into FCP and everything works fine. A problem I have been having, is when I color correct the footage (and I am guessing the same will happen when I apply any other effects) the footage now has the bright green preview bar above it. I have been making movies this exact same way and have never had this issue before. Usually I can import the footage, drop it on the timeline, edit it however i wanted to, export it, and be done with it. Now, however, I am having to render after every single color correction. I’m new to FCP and could definitely use some help…

The BRIGHT GREEN means that you will eventually have to render. It will play back at a lower quality, but you can play it back without any problems.

WHY NOW? Well, the higher data rate codecs might go bright green if you have a slower processor, not that much RAM, or the drive speed isn’t really fast (faster than firewire)…or a combination of many of those factors.

But you can work without rendering…render when you are done.

The thing that confuses me is that I recently worked on a few videos and nothing like this happened. I did everything the same way I am doing now, but I didn’t need to render along the way. I didn’t need to render at all, in fact. I’m working with 8GB of RAM and 70GB free on my hard drive. Any ideas?

Also, I have to render along the way because I am not able to add transitions unless all the files are rendered

Have a look to the sequence RT setting.
[Jonathan Wright] “I didn’t need to render at all, “
Whenever you apply any Filter or Motion effect, there is rendering.
Whatever the color you get in FC.
