I have some PAL to NTSC conversion to do. An associate tells me that the latest versions of Final Cut can do this conversion natively. (that is without any plug-ins…I know there is a Natterson plug-in.)

Anyone had any experience with this. I have run through several converters that were supposed to do this but they did a pretty bad job with the frame rate conversion.

    Thanks in advance.

Cinema Tools can do this. FCP cannot, without the Nattressy plugin.

Like Shane said use Cinema Tools. Conform it to 23.98, and edit in a 23.98 sequence. That’s the best method by far.

Correctly set, Compressor in FCP studio with optical flow technology, (set in the Frame Controls tab of the inspector) will give you the best software conversion.
This has been described in this forum many times.

    Cheers

    Thanks guys.

Will relay the information to my associate. Don’t have Final Cut myself.
