ok, well ive had finalcut on my g4 laptop for 8 months, no problems other then the fact it’s on a laptop, i love it.

What i have is fcp express and upgraded to fcp 5 hd (not the suite) and it came with livetype and compressor.

Well i hate live type ive opened it, never used it, adn it takes up 10 gigs of memory, so i deleted it.

I just open fcp for the firsttime since the purge, and i get the fallowing message during startup, “Advanced lighting could not be initialized” and it closes immediatly,

now i didn’t un install live type, i just cleared all the livetype folders, did i delete something by accident?

any help much apreciated, should i just unisnstall the whole package, and reinstall without live type?

    Click TRASH.

You can also back up your preferences if you have any custom settings. So after you trash them this time, set up your custom settings and when you are done, hit BACKUP. So next time you need to trash you then hit RESTORE and your settings are back…a back up set of good preferences are put into place.

    Sweet application.

ok, well first when i started this time (mind you this is ALL in the start dialogue befor fcp is fully open, you know the little like 50% windo that says finalcut, the version owner, and what loading, one of the thing that loads up is “advanced lighting” this does not run, i have no idea what it does, but it’s among other loading things like rt extreme etc, when it pops up with the ok/cancle prompt box, i found if you click cancle it continues to the program, advanced lighting isn’t a preferance or anyting, so i don’t exactly get what finalcut restore is for.

but essentially it doesn’t do anything to help/harm me sofor this situation it’s usless, thoug id like to know really what it does…i gather if fcp is crashing or whatever, it saves all your prefs? and you can then do what with that..im sorry for the ignorance.

so any intel on advanced lighting and what it is id apreciate, thanks
