  • Final cut not importing HDV 1080p30?

Posted by Tim Adamson on June 5, 2010 at 5:07 am

    Hey all,

I’m having some trouble with Final Cut Pro. I’ve imported files I’ve rendered in quicktime with the HDV 1080p30 preset into Final Cut before, but at the moment, if I try to import these files, an error message appears saying: “File error: 12 file(s) recognised, 0 access denied, 12 unknown. I find this unusual because I have been able to import files like these before.

Does anyone know what’s going on?

We need basic info. Where did these files come from? How were they “rendered”. HDV 1080 is usually 60i or 50i. So how did you create a 30p preset in FCP?

Were they captured off tape by software other than FCP?

    Okay,

So these were MPEG-4 files captured from my television using Arcsoft Totalmedia extreme. I usually compress them in quicktime pro before I import them to Final Cut Pro. So I export in quicktime and set my “compression type” to HDV 1080p30. Once the files are rendered I import the files to final cut pro.

That’s pretty much my rendering method.
