  • Final Cut laying off to DVD Recorder – image shifts down ??

Posted by Jenna Bliss on April 19, 2011 at 2:58 am

I am laying off to DVD from a Final Cut Pro sequence. I am going out of the kona card, into a DVC Pro deck and then using RCA to go into the DVD Recorder. My video sequence is 720p. but the DVD Recorder only records SD.

My connection seems to work fine and the image is going through to the DVD recorder BUT – the image steadily shifts down. I’ve changed cables, tried a different DVD recorder, but I’m not sure why it would do this. The top of the picture will be halfway down the screen, with feet on top.

    Any help would be great!!!!!!!!

DOn’t route through the DV deck. Go straight from the Kona to the DVD recorder. The issue is that you don’t have sync going to the deck and the card, and the deck craves that. If you go to the DVD recorder direct, you will be fine, as it doesn’t need nor crave sync.

Change to sync setting in the DVCPro deck to input, not external reference so it locks to incoming signal FCP.
