I would like advise on how best to use Final Cut (Express) in a lab situation. We have 25 Imacs in a lab running Final Cut Express, but since this is a lab shared with other departments there are many other programs and users. We have been using external firewire drives for rendering, capturing etc. the Final Cut projects; however, the drives are locked in place, so the student cannot move(or very little) from one computer to another should their original computer be in use. Are there any other ways to configure such a multi-use lab? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Not really, nothing short of getting a shared server, but the cost of installation and operation is high.

    All the best,

I have heard of several student labs that require the student to provide there own drive.
