You need to use the log and transfer function. You should read the manual about how this is used.

Log and Transfer, not Import P2.

These are two different versions of Final Cut. Note in the first menu Log and Transfer Cmd-Shift-8. The bottom menu is an older version. You might want to run software update to go to 6.0.6, but you should have log and transfer in your version.

    In FCP6, it’s log and transfer, in FCP5 (Pre5.1), it’s Import > P2.

    gracias Dave eres muy amable.
y al momento de hacer log and transfer hay compresion?
como trabajo en el final cut con la informacion de la tarjeta sin compresion?
    o estoy equivocado?
    gracias una vez mas

It’s the same. All Log and Transfer is doing is combining the video and audio into one Quicktime file.

There’s no recompression, no transcoding. It’s of equal quality for DVCPro HD material.

    Hey all,
Im importing P2 footage into FCP 6.0.6 easily through the log and transfer tool however Im not able to bring it in with any option other than prores/prores HQ

Im supposed to farm shots out to animators/designers and they will finish from there.

How am I supposed to bring this stuff in uncompressed? Or better yet, since Ive already cut, how can I upres the converted files to uncompressed?

please help. Any info would be most apprecitated.

    -Cass
