Final Cut hangs with large projects off XSAN
Hi everyone.
My issue with Final Cut is that whenever I leave the application I’ll have to wait for a long time to return to it due to hang time. And by leave the application I mean by switching to another app. I’m convinced that this is an XSAN related issue considering that FCP runs fine with local projects and also with smaller projects off the XSAN. But very large project files will keep me waiting up to 7 or 8 minutes with a spinning beach ball.
As you can imagine this doesn’t necessarily impede my work but it is extremely annoying. Everytime I open Finder, or browse the internet, or even shake off my screen saver I’ll have to sit around and wait for FCP to think.
I know there must be a way around this because I have worked on even larger project files off of an Xsan at my old production office and never had this issue.
