Final Cut Freezing / crushing (Hardrive problem?)
Hi everyone,
It’s my first time posting here. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out why Final Cut is freezing and crashing. Some symptoms:
– Almost every time I make a change, or specially when I undo a change, I get the Mac color spinning wheel, and need to wait 10 to 20 seconds, until I can continue.
– Sometimes this happens when I play and then the image freezes but the sound keeps on playing, forever, until the end of the timeline and then the computer does not respond and I need to force shut it down.
– In general the performance has not been great, and it is really frustrating when I edit to have to stop every 15 seconds and wait, or restart the computer all together. It kills my flow and it is extremely time consuming.
I am using:
– H264 files from a Panasonic GH4 and GH5 (Project has about 2000 clips)
– Final cut Pro X (10.3)
– MacBook Pro mid 2015 retina 15 inch.
Processor 2.5Ghz Intel Core i7.
Ram 16gb 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M370x 2048 MBUsing an external hardrive LaCie 4TB Porsche Design Desktop Drive for Mac.
Any ideas?
Is it the RAM , my External drive, the Laptop?
Should I work with proxies directly?
