Final cut express to web video work flow
Hi – Im new here but have visited many times to find valuable answers. But on this occasion I need more specific me help ! Please.
I have been editing footage in FCE with the help of Tom Wolsky’s Editing workshop which is fantastic and all seemed to be going very well despite quite a steep learning curve.
I have been able to export to a .mov file but need to convert it to a .flv as I have been told this is the best format for the web video player that I shall be using and at the same time convert the image size from 720×576 to 320×240.
Can anyone advise the best way of doing this – preferably with free software.My other question is that I have the black widescreen bars on the exported .mov filescan these be removed easily in final cut?
I hope this makes sense as Im very much a novice and help is greatly appreciated.

The post was found using “convert .mov .flv” in the Creative Cow search bar. You’ll find more related posts using those search words.
I’m not that familiar with FCE, and thus not sure if you can reduce the .mov size to 320×240. I think QuickTime Pro can do it, if you have that on your system. If not, install and try the free MPEG Streamclip. https://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
As far as removing the black bars, FCE has some cropping and/or scaling capabilities to do this, doesn’t it? Do a help search within FCE using “crop” and “scale”.
