Final Cut Express doesn’t recognize HDX900
I’ve scoured both the internet and personal resources and haven’t been able to figure out what’s going on. So apologies in advance for this basic question.
I’ve shot some test footage on an HDX900. I’ve been trying to capture this into Final Cut Express via a IEEE 1394 <-> Firewire cable. I’m aware that the HDX900 doesn’t allow for remote VTR control, so I’ve been trying to just use Capture Now. Unfortunately, I’m getting zero footage from the 900 into Final Cut.
I’ve tried a number of different setups with Easy Setup, but it always comes back: “Unable to locate the following external devices”.
Is there some menu setting that I’m missing that sets the camera output through the IEEE 1394 jack?

I’m not familiar with that camera, but other cameras have to have a menu switch set to enable usb or firewire.

DVCPro HD is not supported by FCE. You will need F C “PRO”
Pro camera = Pro App.
