I am having an issues I have never had with exporting a video in FCP. have the brand new macbook pro (Early 2011) and everything looks great in preview and in the viewer while editing… then after I export it is awful. Not quality wise, but like weird jump zooms, brightness variations and coloration changes.

I have created a work around by clicking the recompress all frames box, but I was always told to never do that….

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    What format is the export?
Are you playing it off the Laptop Hard Drive?
This may not play a high quality file smoothly…

Your going to have to provide more info so that others can help you.

    For starters

What codec video are you editing?
What are your time line settings?
    How are you exporting?
    What are your export settings?

    **Hindsight is always 1080p**

I am exporting with current settings… exporting as a qt NOT using compressor.

Here is a screen shot showing my sequence settings.

I shoot on a JVC700 with an SxS drive. Comes in as XDCAM 1080

If you are playing media off the OS drive you will have less then desirable results. You need an external FW or SATA setup for your media.

I am viewing on the new mac with 8gb memory, 750gb harddrive, and the highest processor. I am viewing from my computer not an external.

An external would playback better than the internal system?

Not necessarily – depends on the respective speed of the drives. But your description of the playback issues you’re experiencing does not indicate to me that the speed of your playback drive is the problem. But you need to indicate your export settings, in detail, for anyone to be of much help.
