November 19, 2009 at 5:52 amYea they external has over 500 GB left, and my internal drive has about 2 hundred something
I’m trying the divided export- reimport- then export again strategy to see what happens.
Thanks for the responses. Creative Cow kicks ass

November 19, 2009 at 5:27 pmAhhh, sooo the export, import, re-export worked, but the quality is pretty crappy- it is really choppy.
Is this because it exports twice?
or
Because I exported at 1080 30pI’m pretty new to the plethera of compression and export settings experience. I just want it to look as smooth as possible… Would exporting at a 1280x 720 help?
Again- any and all help would be appreciated.

November 19, 2009 at 5:36 pmAGAIN I ask.
Did you edit it in HDV or in ProRes. If you edited it in HDV what are you trying to accomplish by exporting using ProRes and will it export if you just have it export with the current timeline settings?

November 19, 2009 at 5:46 pmSorry bout that- yea it was edited in HDV… Another editor told me Pro Res was a little better but didn’t really matter- I must have misunderstood
It was shot using a canon HV40 at HDV pf 30 (TV mode)
What would you recommend for the export? I’d prefer smoother images over quality image.

It is better for editing, but you have already done that. Converting to ProRes now is not going to add any additional quality.
Try just exporting with current settings and see if it exports fully.
