    Here is my workflow:

Canon A1 HDV 24f -> Capture on Firestore -> Drag quicktimes to hard drive -> Edit in Final cut.

    Problem:

When I open a clip in Quicktime it looks fairly bright.

In Final Cut (on the same monitor) it is much darker.

If I export that same clip (untouched) through Compressor, it comes out somewhere in between.

    Here is an example:

    Window 1 – Quicktime
    Window 2 – Final Cut
    Window 3 – Mp4 (iTunes)

Is there a ‘view’ option in Final cut that will more accurately match the global quicktime playback settings on my system? I am not as concerned with playback through other devices/monitors, just a (more) consistent look between quicktime and Final Cut on my display.

    Thanks!

I found the answer elsewhere and figured I would post it here in case anyone runs into the same issue.

“Click the ‘Enable Final Cut Studio colour compatability’ at the bottom of the QT prefs window.

Then click ‘Accurate gamma’ in FCP under /System Settings/Playback control”

Has anyone other than Michael had this issue? It’s happening to me as well.

    Thanks
