  • Final Cut Crash upon project load.

Posted by Amir Rakib on February 23, 2011 at 12:09 am

    Hi.
I’ve been given an edited project to colorcorrect, but I can’t seem to open it.

My Final Cut Pro seems to work just fine with any other project file I have. It loads, saves, and I can edit.
I’ve already tried trashing my preference files and this particular project opens in other peoples computers.

When I open the projectfile FCP starts opening, loading, and then crashes. No error, just tells me its quit unexpectedly.
The same happens when FCP is already opened and I File>Open the project.

    Has this happened to anyone?
Are there any tricks that you can suggest I try?

I would really appreciate the help, I’m freaking out. :-\

    Sounds like a corrupt clip.

FCS maintenance from digital rebellion may be able to fix the clip. It’s not free.

An easy way to find out if it is a corrupt clip is to load the project without any media connected (easily done if your media is on a removable drive).

All the media will be offline but it will let you know if it’s the media or the project. If it’s a corrupt clip then I’d recommend using the trusted “divide and conquer” technique.

Even if the same file is able to be opened by other computers?
