Final Cut and MPEG-2 file.mov
Hi there,
i am editing a file.mov 32Gb, 4 hours video, in FC
usually i got a file.mov which is ProRes already BUT today, i’ve spent the day working and editing an MPEG-2 file that i SUPPOSE to be a ProRes.. i discovered it because after few hours editing i hit render and appear “conforming HDV video” which i’ve never seen.. what does it means, pls?Don’t know if this info may be useful but the final prj should be a blu-ray HD 1920×1080 about 20min, so.. what should i do now, pls? continue like this? streamclip the master 32Gb file.mov to ProRes one and reconnect it? re-do the editing job with the ProRes file.mov?

That should have been your first clue that no way was that ProRes, in fact I don’t even know how that is a 4 hour HDV, which is about 12-13GB/hr. That sounds like a delivery codec and not HDV (which is a favor of mpeg2)
If it is not HDV I would convert the footage. I don’t work in HDV much but when I do I convert it to ProRes before I start.
If you convert you movie and name it exactly the same, then rename the original name(HDV). When you reopen the project it will load the ProRes and then you change your compressor setting of the sequence to ProRes.
Always backup the project file before starting.
