This seems like such a can of worms so I hope someone can help. I have a HDD full of M2T files captured using On-Location. I am told the Canon XH-A1 was in 24f mode when the footage was captured. Using Mpeg Streamclip I am converting them to the AIC 1080i60 codec and importing them to Final Cut Express 3.5. I get a render bar with this footage. Am I wrong in thinking FCE should be able to handle HDV footage in real-time? When capturing from tape is the HDV AIC preset not the one used to capture the footage? Now the second part of the question deals with this Canon 24f. As I understand it, this mode is not actually 24 fps, its some kind of pulldown and it appears as 30fps just like standard NTSC video. That being the case I should be able to deal with it in FCE and assuming the final output will be DVD there should be no reason to reverse the pulldown, edit it and then add it back again? Right? Anybody? Why is this starting to feel like alchemy?

    Thanks for any help.
