  • Final Cut 7 – My plugins folder is missing!!

    Posted by Aaron Zeghers on May 5, 2010 at 7:18 pm

    Installed Final Cut Studio 3 with Final Cut 7, and now my third-party transitions and effects are unusable. My filters still appear if I am sure to choose Effects>Effect Availability>All Effects, but they don’t actually work. The just make black instead of the filter. Some of my transitions are straight up missing, and others appear in the transition menu, but also create black transitions. The strangest part is that if I open old projects, all the filters that are already applied work fine.

    To make matters worse, I can’t re-install my plugins because the my plugins folder doesn’t exist! I look for / Library / Application Support / Final Cut Pro System Support / Plugins but the Final Cut Pro System Support Folder isn’t even there!

    Does someone have an idea of what’s going on here? I saw someone else on this thread is having the same problem, but so far it hasn’t been resolved.

    I’ve also tried adding new plugins to Library>Preferences>FinalCutProUserData>Plugins with no success. I’m gonna go trash my preferences right away and will update after that….

    Find the Final Cut Pro Application in the Applications folder, right click on it and choose ‘show package contents’.
    Browse to Contents ->MacOS->Plugins

    I am having the same problem, but “Show Package Contents” is not an option when I right click on the Final Cut Studip folder. (in Library > Application Support). I’m running OSX 10.5.8. Is there another way to find this option?

    Solved. For me, at least. I was navigating to the Library folder in my user home folder. Instead start at Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/ Final Cut Pro System Support/ Plugins.
