    Hey Guys,

I really hope someone can help me out with this. We just upgraded to three new computers and a new version of Final Cut (7). The computers are connected to a network shared drive that houses our media and project files. On the new computer, if I open a sequence, it asks to convert it to the new Final Cut 7 sequence, I say yes, then, just about all the media comes up offline. The paths are correct, none of that has changed, and when reconnecting, it even shows the correct path where the media is. My question is; is there anything that can be done, so we do not have to reconnect all the media for each sequence, the first time it is opened on the new computer in the new Final Cut? Also, if we open up that sequence on the old computer, everything comes up online and no issues. Like I said, all the media files and sequences are on a shared network drive. Nothing is local. Thanks for any help!!

So, does it say it’s reconnecting? or do you get an error?

You said “just about all the media comes up offline”. So, what did remain online. Is there a pattern between files that stayed online, and those that went offline?

No error, it just brings up the dialogue box as soon as I open the sequence, that there are offline files. I can reconnect them with no issue, it is just time consuming when there are multiple files in different places on our shared drives. As for what comes up offline. There really is not a rhyme or reason. Some sequences will be mostly just graphics, other sequences will be video files. The only things that stay online consistently are Final Cut generated elements (i.e. Color Bars, Slates, etc.).

Hmmm. Well, if you’re under a time crunch, I would go through and reconnect files manually to put out the fire.

Could this be the annoying trash prefs issue? Have you tried trashing prefs?

Seems like that is always a possibility when you run into strange things like this. Maybe in the upgrade, the prefs got screwy, and you need to rebuild them. Worth a shot.
