July 11, 2005 at 5:15 pmWe just finished production yesterday where we captured 14 hours of 10bit 720p without a single glitch. BUT when we playback, or assemble some scenes it constantly crashes!
I want to start editing this week and it looks to be impossible with the current stability problems. I tried to install Panther on the G5, but the computer wouldn’t allow it (it’s the new dual 2.3ghz).
G5, Tiger, FCP 5, Decklink HD Pro (5b4), Sonnet SATA RAID.

July 15, 2005 at 10:51 pmThe Blackmagic 10bit uncompressed codec must be buggy in some way, because when I removed the codec in the library/quicktime folder and worked with the native 10bit uncompressed from Apple, all was ok.

July 16, 2005 at 12:19 amWell, I upgraded everything possible to erradicate this crashing. I’m now running fcp 5.02, bm 5.0, and tiger 10.4.2. I’ve been working all day today without a crash. Something got fixed. I’ve been using the Apple Uncompressed 10-bit codec. Not Blackmagic’s.

July 17, 2005 at 10:39 amThe same to us. After upgrading final cut to 5.02 and tiger to 1.42 it runs but only with the native 10bit 1080 codec of Apple.
