Just got CS5. AME encodes very fast! Interesting encoding app. Really uses all 16 virtual cores in my new 8-core Mac Pro.

I’m intrigued by the “filters” option in there. There’s only one, gaussian blur. I really need one that burns in a timecode.

Anyone know if this is extensible? I’m using CatDV to bake TC right now – works very well but, relying on the non-64-bit QT framework, only uses 4 cores at about 30% to encode.

Any insights? Yes, I know Compressor will do it too, but I find it less than efficient. If you have an 8-core, how many instances do you run for optimal encoding?

Crazy. I totally expected it to have a half dozen filters. Yeah, I get why the Gaussian Blur, but you’re right, TC ought to be there too.

Compressor? About 1/2 your cores. You can give it more, but I find it a diminishing return past that. Always leave one totally free no matter what.
