  • Filming on a cruise ship (in dock) – general advice

ANy general advice for filming on a cruise ship for a small ditty on a shopping channel? I’ve mostly done nightclubs/event videos before – so this is fairly new territory and I would say its my biggest job yet as being a freelance Camera / editor – the most corporate job i’ve gained thus far.

Should I wear a high-vis jacket? Should I dress uber smart (black suit) or just casual suit jacket, shirt, no tie, dark jeans / trousers?

Sony EX3 – have had a rain cover delivered – going to use a Tripod for some PTCs – presenter wearing a Sen. Wireless lapel mic, I also have a Rode NTG2 (+ 3m XLR cable) and Shure SM58 Vocal mic (which can use the Sen. Plug on transmitter – great sound for loud environments / music in BG).

Shots to get – what do you do to prepare? Any formulas? Plan of attack? I think perhaps, film the presenter walking around talking about the facilities etc (handheld / shoulder) then using tripod, get some wides / pan downs etc.. or use if the presenter is sat down / stood against a bar etc…

Also, my insurance is due now – any recommendations within the UK?
