Hi Everyone, from the Land of No Alarm Clocks,

I have been asked to come out of my beautiful retirement to do a cost estimate to shoot two videos in two Canadian cities. The last time I did this about 15 years ago their Customs department had wanted a work visa from me, explaining why a Canadian couldn’t do the shoot (so much for NAFTA), and would not grant me one. Nad it would take about three months to get it.

So…anyone have any recent experience taking some equipment through the business entry line at Customs in a Canadian airport lately?

    Thanks,

    Ned

Yes, you do need a work visa. The one time I got through the border without a visa it was a real hassle. I was working for a large US company with plants all over Canada. The Customs Agent at the border held us until the CEO sent him an email on company stationary explaining why me and my crew were hired and not a Canadian crew.
