I want to purchase a scanner that will allow me to transfer either super 8 or 16mm (the ability to do both would be great).
Could someone recommend a product and a place to purchase it. I have been looking around with little success. If you know the price range that would be very helpful. Thanks for your help in advance.

    Best,

    A “scanner” ?

Telecine “scanners” can cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I’m thinking what you want is a “rear-projection box”.

Just focus the projector into the box and shoot the image with a camcorder.

“Flicker” can be a problem, due to different frame rates of the film vs. video.

Camcorder shutter speed adjustment may help, but unless you got some SERIOUS cash, this is the way to go.

FWIW, here’s a link to some Telecine scanners.

Is this what you had in mind?

Thanks for the info. I am going to check into the rear projection box.

    Steve,
Thanks for the info. I am going to do some experimenting on Monday. If anyone else has ideas, I am interested in hearing them. Thanks again.
