Film technique
Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have to shoot a video where the subject is in real time motion, while the rest of the world is in fast forward motion. I figured if all else fails, I can shoot him on a green screen and the outdoor shots seperately then speed up the latter. I was just wondering if there is any other technique other than this… I have a feeling the one I mentioned won’t look as realsitic as I want it to… If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Never tried for that look but I can think of a few ways. It depends on background as well.
-Green screen- but looks really bad unless its done well.
-The actor could move in “slow motion”and you could speed the footage up to make him look normal.
– other ways exists to composite two identical static shots but rotoscoping takes for ever with out having a cleen seperation of the for and backgrounds.

I’ve done this in downtown Orlando. Turned out great. What you do it have the actor “move in slow motion.” Say 50%. Try slowing down the shutter to 1/30. Slowing the shutter on the camera will help you blur the world around him. I suppose you can add motion blur in post, but camera trick turn out nicer. Experiement with a few different methods, before you do the real thing.
