Film FIRE in front of Green, black , white, blue???
So i was messing about with a flame and crisco, and saw a lot of cool feathery looking fire that i want to shoot in front of a screen and then key out the screen and use the fire as a particle in a particle system. Now i dont know what color to film in front of to get the best key, i was thinking pure black and then just use a blending mode, but I think that if i used add or screen it would still look to transparent and loose its redness when overlayed over video footage. What would be the best idea for this kind of a shoot?

LOL keying fire and smoke, eeeyea.. no. You could try a black bg then luma or extract key because the brightness of the fire is the difference. Fire makes too many colors to key out, its famous for that.

You can get great results with fire over a black background and then apply the free filter called “Knoll Unmult” to the fire layer, available here:

The description on that page has more info about how the filter works. You may want to play with the fire layer’s transfer mode as well, but Unmult maintains the fire’s strength unlike just using transfer modes.
