    Hi,

I have a Canon GL2, and I’ve worked diligently to try and achieve a highly contrasted and vivid color spaced style with some of my videos. I understand that a large majority of achieving the film look is in the lighting. However, after reading some different articles on After Effects, it seems that there are some methods to enhance the film look even further.

So I was curious, what are some methods to further achieve the film look?

    Cordially,

    Levels.

Check out “The DV Rebel” book at your local bookstore. that’ll give you a good feeling for AE’s uses before you jump in.

Oh, an if you have some cash on hand beyond the original investment…

Magic Bullet suite is the best you can get.

Actually Digieffects Cinelook 2 is on par with Magicbullet. I use it all the time to create great looking Film Effect’s with a high degree of control. Creative Cow has actually compared the 2, check out the link below for more information:

Here is a site that shows some really good comparisons using a few methods….

    https://www.denoyer.com/pdfs/DGi06_118.pdf

What you will notice is how well Magic Bullet works to achieve a 24p look… however, if you look closely you will see that it is also VERY VERY VERY time consuming to render. The newer version is suppose to be faster, but even if they shorten the rendering time by half… you are still looking at long rendering times. With Magic Bullet you need a good video card.

    Hey Joe,

Clicked on the link you included on your last post and got a pdf file of anatomy charts/posters like the ones I use to see in HS Biology class. Is this the correct link or am I completely losing it. The 2nd theory is very believeable if you ask my co-workers…ha ha ha

    Thanks

Thanks for the heads up on the rendering times. I do have an 8800 GTS graphics card, so I’m not too concerned with rendering times. However, as someone else posted, is that pdf linked correctly? My browser keeps timing out….

    Thanks,

    Hey Joe,

It keeps telling me that your post has been deactivated? I can read your comments through email, but when I follow the link to view the thread, it says that your posts are being deactivated. Strange.

    Thanks for the advice though!
