  • Film Damage V4 to V5? (B&W with some colour)

Posted by Todd Nelson on December 1, 2008 at 8:17 pm

    Help please,

With BCC AVX V4 I used Film Damage to get that cool B&W look with some saturated colour areas coming through.
    Now with V5:

    1. V4 Effects don’t seem to be working in old sequences.
    2. How do I make that B&W/Colour look like Film Damage did in BCC AVX V4?

    Cheers,
    Todd

    Hi Todd,

If you are using an older version of MC then you must manually promote the effects to AVX2 for them to render the same result in BCC 5. Or you can just leave BCC 4 on the system – the two versions can co-exist in the effects palette. If you have uninstalled BCC4 then you might want to reinstall that using the BCC 5 installer.

On newer versions of MC the promotion from AVX 1.5 to 2.0 is automatic.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Thanks for response,
This poses some more questions though.
    1. What’s the best way to install BCC4 for MC3 on OSX 10.5? Running the BCC 5 install disk that came with MC3 doesn’t give option to install BCC4.
    2. Is it possible to do a clean uninstall of BCC4 afterwards? I dont really want the extra folders and doubling up of effects in the effects palette etc.

    Cheers,
    Todd
