    Hey guys,
I’m working with this font called ‘Ice Age’, which is stenciled by default. Can anyone suggest how to make it non-stenciled without going into photoshop? I’ve discovered the trick to get 3D text via the shatter effect / custom mapping (why isn’t this it’s own system????), which I was hoping would provide the fill, but it doesn’t.

Any ideas on how to trick the fill in the font without round tripping to photoshop?

    Thanks!

Can you duplicate the text and then use the fill effect on the background text? If the text has an alpha channel the color will show thru under the top layer of text. Then just parent the back one to the front one.

I’m wondering whether you might be able to duplicate the font behind itself, then use one of the keying matte choker tools to fill it in? I tried it with an outline font, and got the background copy to fill in, the next challenge is to get it to cut the matte version with just the outer alpha of the original font – I’m stumped at the moment.

Worst case scenario I think I’ve gotten the Photoshop 3D text to do it using the repousse thing. I just hate round tripping to Photoshop when I get notes to change text. It’s kind of an annoyance.

    Thanks guys!
