Fill an outlined font
Hi, I was wondering if there was a simple way of filling an outlined font (using effects rather than multiple layers) ?
For example, I’d like to fill this with white, but the closest I can get it is using the layer styles stroke. Maybe there was a way of preventing the stroke on the outside?:

If the goal is to fill it with the fill expanding from the stroke, I think you need to just use a second layer as matte. See attached file.

Thanks but it need to work on a font with hollow insides. Or an outline font, not sure what the term is

You can create a matte, by selecting your text, go to layer and near the bottom of the list choose “Create masks from text”. You could also create shape layers from the text and use some of the tools there to create your fill in effect.

Hello there, I added a solid Composite Effect to the bottom layer and it allowed me to fill the inner text to whichever color I wanted. Does this solve your problem. AE Project Attached

Thanks, but that is putting an outline on a solid font, I want ‘fill’ an outlined font

Can certainly achieve that with a bit of fiddling. I was hoping to keep live text, but it’s an option
