Fill a Text Path with Colour… mmmmh???
hi everybody,
i’m wondering if this is possible… probably i’ve overseen an effect, that can do this…okay, let’s say i habe a huge letter – or more easy a box-shape… it’s a path (or mask)…
can i fill it with colour over time from a special start point to an end point, so it seems, the letter (or box or whatever) gets written???you know what i mean… you could use it to reveal a logo out of nothing or something like this…
or do i have to mask it? i’m wondering if there is another method…

You could make a gradient, then apply the gradient wipe effect to the object, choosing that premade gradient as the gradient map. Note: if you create the gradient in AE, you have to render & reimport it, or precomp the gradient.
Or you could draw a mask (on a new solid) that follows the path you want the fill to take, then apply the Stroke effect to that solid. Animate the end point of the stroke, and make this solid the track matte of the layer you want to reveal. Make the stroke fat enough to cover the object to be revealed.
