Can anyone tell me the best way to work with files created on a DVD recorder.

The client is going to give me a dvd with video sessions recorded on it, and I need to hopefully pull the files (audio/video in sync) directly off of the dvd and edit and package the data in fcp.

    Thanks!

    1) You can either capture the material straight off of a DVD player using capture now/uncontrollable device.

    2) You can lay off the DVD to tape and then digitize from the tape just like you normally would.

    3) You can use a free program called MPEG Streamclip that will convert the VOB files to something editable in the quicktime format.

    4) You can play the DVD and then shoot the TV screen with your camera for a really sweet kinescope effect popularized by such tv shows as The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy. Just kidding. See options 1-3
