Greetings, When I open FCP and reopen timelines in my project that were previously rendered, I find many, if not most, files unrendered. I render them again, and then next time I open FCP and the timeline, file are not rendered once again. I recently media managed the timeline and project, but before I did that, not only were files unrendered, but also numerous would be unconnected. Mind you I had worked on this project for 3 years without this occurring. Is there a setting that has limited rendered files? At one point it would no longer render files and a consultant found that a limit had been set and he changed it, but this is different behavior. Also, recently (in the middle of this issue) I upgraded from a Powerbook G4 to a MAcBook Pro with much more memory, etc, but this is still occurring.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks, Laura

Sounds like FCP can’t locate the render files folder?
Has this been changed? Did you change HDs?
When FCP starts up, does it warn you that it can’t find some rendered files?
Is there enough free space on the HD? For an hour long project, it can use well over 20gb of space to render files.

One of these questions should point you in the right direction for the answer.

    Good Luck,

HI Todd, I will look more carefully at the render files folder, but not all the files are unrendered, just some. I did change hard drives but this was happening with the old smaller computer, but again, not for most of the project. I thought then that it was a space issue but there is no space issue now with the new one. I do think I was always rendering at highest quality and thought maybe that had something to do with it.
Last time i opened it up it said 4 files were not rendered, but many more than that were not rendered in the open timeline. I will open it again and see what it says, but the project is only 18 minutes….

I am about to start downloading a new project and so want to get this issue straight.
    Thanks, Laura
