  Files not importing, FCP7

  Have done disk permissions repair, have restarted and turned off all drives, software all updated. It’s a latest Mac pro 6 core intel 2.66Ghz machine. It just started today. Also trashed FCP permisions, did not work. Issue still seems present in new project opened from desktop.

  Symptoms: Files wont import into the project, saying “Error: Unknown File”. Have tried standard movie files (ie qt files of compatible codecs), jpegs, aiffs, and theyre not working. There was also a reconnect issue before this where it was saying it couldnt find the timecode 00:00 or something odd.

  We dont really have time to do a reinstall, and if this persists after a reinstall we will panic as we have loads of projects on!

  Any ideas anyone?
