ARE they offline? i.e. are the QT movies or whatever once there, not there anymore? or are you just losing the connection to them?

They are not there any more. Some do lose the connection but some just vanish. Thanks for your response.

How are your media drives formatted? Mac OS Extended?

This sort of sounds like a systemic error, and not an FCP error per se… i.e. your directories on the media drives are getting corrupted…

Thanks for responding. What can I do about this. I have ordered a 2 aby removable disk enclosure. I was going to back up the edits that are finished and clean the media drive. THe question I have is that this drive is not a year old and files are getting corrupted? What is causing the files to get corrupted? I also have the software and am planning to upgrade to FCP 5 and OSX tiger.
    Is that upgrade stable now.

We’ve had that same problem at work. The conclusion (right or wrong) came to be that the drives were too full. Some editors hadn’t been paying attention and filled the drive to 90% capacity.

I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT BUT MY DRIVE IS ONLY HALF FULL
