    Hi guys;
    I’ve got 300 or so odd clips that I need to render into quicktime movies. I would like AE to display (in the quicktime movie) the filename of whatever I’ve rendered.

    Is there such a script that I could apply in batch to these 300 or so files? Secondly, how would I go about installing/activating such a script?

    Sorry – AE noob here.

    if the script doesn’t do what you need, a simple way to create this is with an expression in a text layer.

    i’m not sure if you needed the name of the comp, or the name of a layer within the comp, but either way, you would create a new text layer and add an expression like this to the the text>source text of the text layer:

    // this will put the name of the layer just bellow the text layer in the text layer
    thisComp.layer(index+1).name

    // this will put the name of the comp in the text layer
    thisComp.name

    if your source file for the layer was a different name than the layer, you could use this:

    // places the source file name in for the layer bellow the text layer into the source text
    thisComp.layer(index+1).source.name

    Kevin –

    I never got to thank for you for your help!

    Is there a way to automate this process for say…several hundred clips? For example — importing a whole bunch of files, creating comps for each file with a text layer over each one and then applying this expression to burn-in the comp name?
