    Hi All,

After my hard-drive “crashed” I recovered my files. But now instead of library icon to click on I have a folder with the contents inside it.

The folder labeled OAK LAKE is the library folder were the FCPX 10.1 Icon used to be.

Is there a way to revert it back so I can use it in FCP? All the files should be there.

Sorry if this is confusing and I know… ALWAYS KEEP A RECENT BACKUP.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jay

You could try making a new Library. Then open the Package contents and place all of that folder contents into it. And then relaunch FCPX.

FCPX backs up automatically. Have you looked in the backup folder

Is this a boot drive or external drive that crashed?

    It’s an external H.D.

I did open a backup but I am having a problem relinking the files.

[Jay Fishback] “I did open a backup but I am having a problem relinking the files.”

Because you don’t have access to original shoot media?

Because the recovered files are incomplete?

Because the files are managed externally and the link is gone?

What is happening when you try and relink?

I figured it all out eventually.

I opened the package contents on my most recent back-up. I then inserted the working files from my previous library into the new library (the backup one.) Once there I was able to relink everything properly from their new location with their new structure.

I’m guessing the file structure for re-linking was wrong. I kept getting a message saying the file length, audio changes, etc. were incorrect and couldn’t be linked.
