From time to time when I receive film scans as dpx or tiff sequences from another lab (based on an edl of the offline edit, for conform/online in final cut studio back here) all the file sequences are delivered in one folder making it a tedious task to separate all the different file sequences into different shots for subsequent conversion with the aja DPXToQTTranslator utility. I’ve looked around for utility apps or scripts that would do this job automatically; sorting file sequences into individual folders based on sequence continuity/coherency i.e. making gaps in the numbering signify a new clip and therefore a new folder. Do anyone know of such an app? Further – I’ve been in touch with the developer of the “A better finder renamer”, and “The Big, Mean Folder Machine” applications and they want to build this feature into one of those apps in a future release if there is a more general interest for it (rather than just me). So, does anyone else encounter this problem – and would you (as me) save quite a few hours by not having to do this sorting manually? Let us know!
