My Vegas project just locked up the computer, and had to do a hard shut down. I was able to open the most recent .bak, but when I tried to change the name, it crashed the computer. When I restarted, that .bak was gone, also the most recent I’d been working on this morning. I looked at my files, and was able to pull up the project from late yesterday. But the file date was from 2 weeks ago. I did a test, making a small change, and saving, but the file date didn’t change to today. Isn’t the most recent save date supposed to be the date in File Explorer? That is instead of the file creation date?

Figured it out. The layout of my Explorer had changed.

But trying to save project as “save as” locks up the computer. What a day!

One of the initial issues I had with Pro 18 was “where is the backup?” I couldn’t find it. It wasn’t in my folder with the rest of the files like it was with 13. THEN I found that there is a different method being used…and the backup files (NOT .BAK however) are held in a different folder.

I found that I needed to load an EMPTY project and Vegas would ask if I wanted to restore the previous version of my project. So far, seems to work.

There is an option to have the .bak file show up like it used to… LOTSA new stuff to learn – especially since I upgraded from 13.
